ABOUT
Shawnette (pronounced Shawnetta) Reid is a Resident in Counseling and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. Shawnette discovered her calling as a counselor when she became intrigued by the human psyche as an undergraduate. Since then, Shawnette has worked with individuals struggling with mental health including serious mental illness, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and difficult life transitions.
When asked about pursuing the counseling field, Shawnette states:
“My profound passion lies in helping individuals realize their potential, with a particular focus on teenagers aged 13-18, adults, and members of marginalized communities. My mission is to empower individuals by nurturing their self-esteem and guiding them in expressing their thoughts and emotions confidently.”
One of her motivators is this quote by Steve Jobs, “The only way to do great work is to love what you do.” Shawnette truly loves what she does!
